The Synanon Fix for
HBO Documentary Films and Max

Associate Producer

I was sent to a contributor’s personal library on this very self-led project sourcing archival materials… in the field! I catalogued over 2,000 physical digital video tapes and reel-to-reel audio tapes for Moxie Films’s four-part investigative documentary series The Synanon Fix . This 2024 Sundance premiere explores the truth behind the famed rehab-turned-cult. I prioritized selects for digitization using the knowledge I gained while researching Synanon and interviewing our contributor onsite, my doc story structure know-how from my past career experiences, and my own investigative skills — picking up on clues like dates, recording titles, occasional shorthand notes, listed contributors, and recording locations to identify the reels and tapes most likely to be used in the archival-heavy edit.
